Soil Workshop

Soil stewardship is the cornerstone of our Regenerative Organic Certified™ model of agriculture. Rather than deplete our soil of nutrients, we strive to create production systems that add organic matter to the soil in order to build greater health and fertility with each season. While soil health is largely overlooked by industrial agriculture, we believe that the health of our soil is essential to the health of our bodies, our communities, and our ecosystem.

If you’d like to know what it really means to be a soil steward, we invite you to join us for our upcoming Backyard Skills: Soil Workshops with Farmer Brandon. This three-week serial workshop, held on Saturdays from October 1st to 15th, is designed for beginning farmers and gardeners–no prior experience or knowledge is needed, just an interest in going deep!

Each week’s class will start with an hour of “classroom” learning about soil biology and chemistry, as well as site assessment. If you’ve ever wondered what exactly is in your soil, how to improve it, or why some plants grow well in the same soil where others fail to thrive, this is your chance to find out! The second hour will be spent in field work: conducting soil tests, examining our soil biome under the microscope, practicing strategies for compost cultivation to help amend and improve soil, and much more.

By the end of this three-week intensive, you’ll be equipped to work in relationship with your unique soil conditions and add regenerative practices that enrich and sustain your home garden.

Join us in stewarding our planet’s most precious resource.
