Welcome to LOCAL! + SCENARIA celebrating the harvest of the San Luis Valley through art. The weekend of festivities taking place on September 30th and October 1st combines the San Luis Valley Local Food Coalition's annual Harvest Fest LOCAL! with a place and time-based art event SCENARIA in collaboration with the Frontier Drive-Inn, The Dish SLV and Black Cube Nomadic Museum.The event will celebrate the completion of artist and architect
Ron Rael's Adobe Skylos, the largest 3D Printed Adobe structures in the world built at the Frontier, with musical performances by
Tone Ranger (Santa Fe),
Blue Book (Denver) and Tio Puerto (Crestone), as well as film debuts and screenings including "
Quantum Cowboys" (2022 Geoff Marslett),
Baca the Kid (2022 Antonio Marquez), "
Farm to Faucet" (2021 Christi Bodey) and "De Esos Polvos De Estos Barros" (2021, Alejandro Almanza Pereda). Throughout the site guests will have an opportunity to support vendors from throughout the San Luis Valley's community of farmers and artisans.
In addition to the activities happening at the Frontier Drive-Inn, on Saturday October 1st from 12-4pm Center-based food, and civic engagement group, The Dish SLV re-awakens the long-shuttered Ford Motor Garage, in the town of Center, with an afternoon includes lunch offerings by the 2022 Dish SLV Cook-Off winner,
Erica Enriquez, Folklorica dance by
Semillas De La Tierra, Harvest Arts and Crafts by
Matt Capell and Nora McBride and Center's Alluvium Studios. The event also includes a panel of short presentations and discussion, "Beneath the Surface : Stories of Earth and Water from the San Luis Valley" moderated by
Fort Garland Museum Director Eric Carpio and featuring architect and designer Ron Rael, Sarah Jones (Jones Family Farm), Christi Bode(Film Director), and Zoila Gomez - San Luis Valley Local Foods Coalition.
