Treating Children with Cancer 8,000 Miles Away
Dr. Said’s family fled Afghanistan as refugees when she was an infant. Today as an endocrine surgeon in Santa Monica, she remotely arranges care for critically ill children in her home country. Through her non-profit, Wellness Worldwide, Dr. Said and a network of volunteer doctors deliver medical care and run a family clinic in a refugee camp in the Rodat district of Nangahar, Afghanistan.
